Dr. Goss has worked on numerous heavy construction projects, including tunnels, dams, and reservoirs, specializing in site investigation and construction engineering. His roles on these projects have ranged from miner to shift engineer to resident engineer. As resident engineer, Dr. Goss has overseen projects involving hard rock tunnel rehabilitation, shallow urban tunnels, highway crossings, microtunneled lake taps, shafts, roadheader tunnels, and a 6,400 acre-foot reservoir with earth fill dam. For site investigation projects, Dr. Goss has developed drilling programs, groundwater flow models, slope stability models, and performed subsurface characterization.

Dr. Goss served as president of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), Colorado Section in 2005 and 2006. In 2007, Dr. Goss was the recipient of the national ASCE Edmund Friedman Young Engineer Award for Professional Achievement.
